Outdoor Provision
We strongly believe in providing outdoor provision for our pupils, not only to be used during break and lunchtimes, but during lesson time as well.
We have a large playground area, as well as the field, equipped with gym stations, a trim trail and wooden houses.
We are very lucky to have an allotment area within our school grounds and some very keen gardeners amongst the staff and children!
The area was initially created using funding from a Tesco community grant. It has been a popular addition to our school site since it was created, and has been maintained with the support of school staff and kind donations from Hassett Fencing Ltd.
This area is used during the school day to support learning in the classroom, as well as for our after school gardening clubs, which are extremely popular.
This provides the children with a hands-on experience of seeing vegetables, flowers and plants grow. It also offers children a valuable opportunity to share in the responsibility for maintaining the area for our school community.
We have a lovely area in the school grounds called Wonder Wood.
This is a beautiful area for children to explore and provides a lovely outdoor space for children to engage with nature and learn about their environment, as well as enjoy reading and other activities in an outdoor space rather than a classroom environment.
This area is also the base for our engaging and adventurous Forest Schools lessons.
We are very lucky to have an experienced Forest Schools teacher, Mrs Underwood, who creates a valuable and engaging outdoor experience for the children and staff alike.
As well as exploring the nature and ecology of our surroundings, children are provided with an exciting learning experience that includes cooking, wood working and creating, all in a purpose built outdoor environment.
